Little Nellie
Free model of 'Little Nellie'
Little Nellie is the Wallis WA-116 Agile autogyro which is a star of the James Bond movie 'You Only Live Twice'. Looking back through some of my old models, I see that I modelled her way back in 2008, but never released it for anyone else to use. I have now made it available for anyone to download and use for free. Here are some images to show what it looks like. Click the small image to see the full-size version:
There are no conditions attached. The copyright of the 3D model remains with me, and of course all respective trademarks, etc. pertaining to the movie and the James Bond franchise remain with the respective rights holders. I believe - but at this stage cannot be certain - that all objects, textures and bitmaps used were created by me, but it is just possible that some were obtained from other sources now long-forgotten. Other than that, feel free to render and use as desired, including commercially.
The sources for the model were threefold: a diagram downloaded from the internet, stills from the movie, and the diecast model produced by Corgi in the UK (and which is still available for purchase here).
Improvements
There are some potential improvements which could be made:
1. Dirty her up. The model as it stands is clean and shiny; it could do with some oil stains, smoke marks around the gun ports, maybe some rust in appropriate places and so on.
2. Add detail. Parts of the model are detailed sufficiently and some, such as the instrument panel, are highly detailed to allow close-ups. Other parts, notably the engine, are quite basic and could stand some improvement.
3. Convert to Redshift materials. The materials used are all standard C4D materials, including the old SLA shaders such as Danell and Nukei. For use in Redshift these mats will all need converting or replacing.
Download
The model complete with textures can be downloaded from the link below. It has been resaved in C4D R2024, so can be loaded into any recent version of Cinema.
